The DCCAI is a place of belonging where Creatives feel safe, seen, and inspired to grow. We provide high-quality, subsidized after-school music and creative arts programs for students living in the Mid-Del Schools attendance zone.
The Institute is a non-profit after-school program that operates out of Sunny Lane United Methodist Church located next to Del City High School.
Classes
Our program will meet on Wednesdays from school dismissal until 6 PM. Transportation will be provided from the elementary and middle schools to Sunny Lane United Methodist Church where the program takes place.
In our first semester, the Institute will offer a limited number of music and arts classes where students can explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills. Our experienced mentors provide a nurturing environment for every creative mind to flourish. We expect to expand our offerings in the fall and beyond.

Elementary Age Program
Elementary age Creatives in 4th and 5th grade, will eat a snack and participate in Opening Notes. Then, they'll enjoy singing together, learning rhythm-based instruments, and playing piano and wind instruments.
Middle to High School Program
Creatives will be given a study hall, snacks, and individual practice time. Then, they will break into studio sessions led by experienced musicians and artists. Each week, Creatives will have the opportunity to participate in the Performance Lab, which are collaborative sessions where Creatives can share their work, learn from each other, and grow together. Creatives perform their solo or ensemble pieces and provide constructive feedback in a positive environment. All Creatives are invited to participate in the aural theory and vocal choir training each week.

Creative Space

Creative Space is where imagination meets innovation. Students explore a wide range of artistic and technical disciplines, from traditional fine arts (painting, drawing) to hands-on crafts (sewing, textiles) to cutting-edge maker technologies (graphic design, video editing, robotics, 3D printing, laser engraving, screen printing). Whether you're sketching your first portrait, coding a robot, or designing custom merchandise, Creative Space provides the tools, instruction, and freedom to experiment, create, and discover what's possible when you combine creativity with technology. We are still in the process of recruiting instructors and acquiring equipment, so we are limited in what we can offer in our Creative Space right now. But, as time goes on, this will become a highlight of our program.
